By the pool

At the Pool is a painting series centered on moments of stillness observed within poolside spaces. These environments—defined by water, architecture, and cultivated nature—become settings for quiet encounters between people, animals, and their surroundings. The pool functions both as a physical place and as a symbolic zone of pause, where time slows and attention shifts toward presence and sensory experience.

Through expressive brushwork and saturated color, the series explores themes of rest, intimacy, and coexistence. Each painting captures a fleeting moment of calm, treating the poolside not as a site of leisure alone, but as a space for observation, emotional resonance, and painterly reflection.

Artist Statement

My painting practice is rooted in attentiveness to what becomes personally significant — moments, figures, and relationships that invite closer observation. I am drawn to what interrupts the flow of everyday perception, prompting pause and reflection. Through painting, I seek to honor places, individuals, and phenomena that resonate on an emotional and sensory level.

A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where I studied in the studio of Professor Adam Wsiołkowski, I work primarily in acrylic and oil. My practice centers on figurative imagery, with a particular focus on emotional presence and the interactions between people and dogs. These encounters serve not only as narrative elements but also as carriers of intimacy, memory, and mutual awareness.

The painting process begins with a preliminary sketch on canvas, followed by an intuitive application of color. I work with dynamic brushstrokes and a tactile approach to paint. Movement, expression, and chromatic intensity play a central role in shaping each image, allowing the emotional resonance of the subject to emerge.

In addition to my personal projects, I create commissioned portraits, striving to capture the unique presence and character of each subject. Whether through intimate studies or commissioned work, my aim is to translate the subtleties of human emotion and connection onto the canvas.
